Rep/Neg system?

Ive seen on some forum sites this system, basically rep is good and neg is bad. is it possible to use it on this site?

We have a reputation system! See the little button on someones post that says "Thanks"? That gives them reputation, we don't have a negative one though =[

But what if someone ISN'T special, then we'd be lying to people. And lying isn't good.

Yes, everyone is handicapped in their own way.....

There should be a warning system...When someone breaks a rule, a mod or admin can increase warning level. Certain amount of warnings = ban.

If someone spots a break in the rules they can't really report it. They would have to send an admin a message.

report abuse buttons are useless. They send an email to an administrator which if read, is often ignored.

@Alex: warnings are much better than allowing bans. If someone spams a little, they can be warned, and later unwarned if they're good. Its more threatening than saying "stop" and less aggressive than banning.

Would all users be able to use this or just mods? Because it would most probably be abused =\

EDIT: maybe it could work like reputation, adding to a number every time they break a rule, Depending on the merit of the offense is how much will be added to their warning level?

Thats pretty much what what they usually work like, but it can only be edited my mods or admins.

Usually its a percent system. The warn bar can be raised or lowered in intervals, usually of 10 or 20. It can be edited any time, any number of times, by any mod or admin.

And its viewable to everybody, just can only be edited by mods.

Sounds like a plan, what do you think Alex?

Ah i see, and we got a rating system which is cool, neg system i use is only for people who say stupid things or are just a complete and utter idiot

I mean you could save the jobs of mods and admins if everyone could police it, i mean report button is too vague, with a neg system mods and admins can see whos been negged the most and find out why and then they can then take approiate action as in if the person deserved it or someone was mis-using it give them a 24 hour therefore no-one will abuse it.

The reason why we have mods is so that stupid members don't screw the moderation up <_< . People will neg others just because they don't like them. There is no rule agains being unlikeable.

Thats very true, but i have notmet 1 bad person yet :d, how many times can i rep someone because mine seems to have disappeared
