Re: Favourite console
My first consle, the Nintendo 64, was the beginning of a whole new era for me.
I had some of the greatest games - Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, Banjo-Kazooie ect.
The 64 had the first 3D Mario game and the first £D Zelda game. Both of which are, when you compare them to the previous NES titles, revolutionary.
The GameCube came second.
By now, I was well into gaming. When I got the GameCube, two games stuck out - Super Mario Sunshine and Luigi's Mansion. These are my second and fourth favoraite games, but the GameCube just didn't have as many great games as the 64.
The Wii, my thrid consle, was the first to come without a Mario game. This greatly annoyed me.
After waiting a year, I got Super Mario Galaxy. This was my least favoraite of the 3 Mario games, and the lack of Yoshi really didn't help. I ended up getting the Zelda game on the GameCube because the store didn't have the Wii version yet.
The XBox was my fourth consle, which came with Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts 'N' Bolts and Halo 3.
I played Halo 3 for a while, but I think theres a lot of hype about a not-so-great game.
Banjo-Kazooie was pretty entertaining. It was beautiful to look at and had a good creative replay value.
Call of Duty: World At War is my third favoraite game. I'm still playing it and purchasing all the map packs. I love it.
So, in conclusion:
Wii - Not so good.
GameCube - Expected more.
XBox 360 - Very, very close.
Nintendo 64 - The best.

Re: Favourite console
Hmmm...Lets look at the hardware of the consoles we all know and love.
Xbox 360 - biggest failure in hardware history since the battery-powered battery charger. Almost every xbox 360 has death sentence.
Wii - great concept, excellent hardware
PS3 - Idk, I've never touched one
Gamecube - Occasionally froze due to disk read error, but its lens was easy to clean and repair disk read trouble. This is the only disk-reading console that has the ability to eject disks without having to be plugged in! Thats a +2 for me. It has a handle. Not sure what its for, but I guess it makes it easier to turn it into a weapon.
N64 - good hardware for the time, but still ran on cartridges.
xbox - so-so
PS2 - always seemed fragile to me.
PS1-overheated A LOT.
Hardware-wise, either the wii or the gamecube. Nintendo has yet to fail me!
Now lets look at the software.
Xbox 360: Great! But its more secure to a bank. This causes a few minor inconvenience for several people, and is ridiculously frustrating for modders. Even so, they were stupid enough to make the console-signed file that we know as containers (or CON files) which hold usermaps, screenshots, and achievements - which is really the only thing Microsoft was worried about being modded in the first place.
Wii: I like the interface. The concept of channels gives me the freedom to organize the stat-up screen however I like. This is great for someone like me (I have obsessive compulsive disorder). It doesn't connect to the internet as well as the other consoles, but its free and gives us access to a wide range of old games that we love. Though the console is very insecure, and can easily be modded. For me, thats a +, but for a lot of others, its a -.
Gamecube: Admit it. You love the start-up screen. The gamecube logo can spin around by holding A and it will bring you to the menu. By holding Z, it will create an alternate start-up sound. By having four controllers hold z, it will create a third alternate startup sound. I always found the fact that the console itself had easter eggs a triumph...I'm making a not here - huge success!
N64: It had a startup logo. Thats it lol. Nothing really notable.
PS1/PS2: I don't really like either of the interfaces =/ .
xbox: Lots of modding. Need I say more?
Now lets look at the games for the consoles!
Wii: SUCKS. New games are terrible, and most additions to existing series end up playing like crud compared to the previous ones. Super Mario Galaxy was like seeing a cartoon special where everybody goes into space and the story line doesn't match up with the rest of the show. Zelda Twilight Princess was WAAAAY too short and the wolf thing was kind of stupid. And the sonic games....Well theres no need for me to be an insult to sonic fans. The wii has been kind of painful except for a few games such as SSBB. If nintendo screws up when making Pikmin 3, I will PERSONALLY kick miyamoto's (or however its spelt) ass.
Xbox 360: LOTS of games. We say their good but theres really no reason why we should think so. If you take multiplayer out of the picture, you get like 6 hours of gameplay. How long was pikmin 2 for the gamecube? TWENTY-SIX HOURS. Games for this generation only appear to focus on graphics, and the length of the game no longer seems to matter.
PS3: It has Little Big Planet. Thats all I really know thats good.
Gamecube: I have more gamecube games than skin cells. SA2B, Pikmin, Pikmin 2, SSBM. Some of the greatest games of all time were on this console. If the wii didn't play gamecube games, I would still have my gamecube on display and ready to be turned on in my room.
N64: No denying it. This console has WAY TOO MANY good games. Super Mario 64, Paper Mario, Kirby 64, Banjo-kazooie. It was hard to go wrong with an N64 game, as most of them were amazing.
PS1: Not really sure. All I had for it was GTA1, and the rugrats game lol.
PS2: Lots of great games, but a lot of them were available for other consoles. The only really good exclusive I can think of is Mercenaries: Playground of destruction. I played that almost as much as pikmin/pikmin 2.
Xbox: Had Halo 1 and Halo 2. Need I say more?
So based on all of this, I think that the gamecube was the best console. That could be greatly influenced by my obsession with pikmin though.

Re: Favourite console
I don't have money to waste on a console that I would only want one game for, and I don't have any friends who have it.
Re: Favourite console
well it only has
lair, LBP, MGS, killzone, uncharted, jak and daxter, rachet and clank, world wide web, PSN which is as good as xbox live just free, bbc iplayer, all the ideas xbox copied from them,

just try it wert, then decide on how you like it
dont listen to IGNorent reviewers like gayspot and gametards
so try it, dont like it, fine its not a system for everyone
ps: theres a difference between costing money, and spending mony
